Why You Need Responsive Design

Today’s web is changing. The internet may have started on desktop computers, but it’s moved on to mobile phones.

With the boom of smartphones and tablets, mobile web is now the hottest thing in tech, and it’s effecting the rest of the world too. Studies show that almost half of all Americans own a smartphone (compared to 42% with a standard cell phone), and 90% of those smartphone users use their phone to go online.

That’s a lot of web traffic from mobile devices! Trends in mobile web show that mobile users are changing the course of the internet- even changing Google.

So how does this affect you as an automotive business owner?

If your website is easy for smartphone users to view and navigate, you’re significantly more likely to capture their attention and gain a new customer. As a business owner with a website, you want to maximize all possible gains from the web- and this is the biggest potential gain for web marketing to date.

Responsive web is also Google’s recommended design configuration for all websites. And even though responsive design is the latest trend in mobile web, Google and most major tech companies will show- mobile web isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

So how do you improve your website for mobile web?

It’s called “responsive design”, because it responds to the size of a screen. Most major websites today are responsive- the content and design adjusts itself to the size of the screen, whether it’s a large display on a desktop monitor, a laptop, tablet or smartphone. All users will view the website basically the same way, and get the same great experience.
