This year is the 40th anniversary of Rétromobile, and some elite stars will be in attendance. 3 stars, to be precise: 3 of the only 6 Bugatti Royale ever made.

First presented to the world in 1926, these revolutionary new rides were all the rage. They represented wealth, luxury, and speed. When the concept for these Bugatti cars was first developed in 1913, Ettore explained: “It will be larger than a Rolls-Royce while being lighter. I hope to get to the perfect silence. The production is impeccable. The cars will be delivered tests of 1000 miles less. It will be too expensive, but will be compared with any other car of this kind. It will be a mechanical part beyond criticism.”

Speaking of iconic vehicles, this year’s Rétromobile will also be the last stage of the Ford Model T world tour. In June 2012, Dirk and his wife Trudy left the Netherlands in their 1915 Ford Model T, embarking on a transcontinental journey to support SOS Children’s Villages. Dirk and Trudy visited and assisted with several projects spearheaded by the charity, and their adventures took them 85,000 kilometers and across nearly 50 countries, including India, China, Russia, Mexico, the United States, Canada, several South American countries, and a variety of African nations.

Rétromobile is not only a celebration of mechanical expertise, but also of the stories and journeys that follow these incredible vehicles. What will the future of cars look like? Where will our vehicles take us next?
