The Most Popular Vehicles By State

Let’s face it, knowledge is power. Especially in business because if you know something your competitor doesn’t then you have a leg up. In today’s age, everything is data driven. Since we have the internet, we can pretty much get data on anything. Data isn’t just what happened in the past, it could help you predict the future. This study of the most popular cars was done in 2014, but that doesn’t mean it’s useless. It could help tell us something about 2015 and exactly what car you might be seeing the most of in your shop.

Like most markets and industries, a handful of elite players have dominated sales in the United States. In terms of state popularity, Ford F-Series leads the way, followed by the Chevy Silverado and the Dodge Ram. The Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord round out the top five. According to 24/7 Wall St

“Ford sold 620,447 F-Series pickups in the first 10 months of this year (2014). In second place among the top-selling vehicles between January and October is General Motors Co.’s (NYSE: GM) flagship pickup, the Chevy Silverado. That sold 429,119. In third place among pickups is Chrysler’s top-selling vehicle, the Ram, which sold 359,702 units.”

As you can tell, America likes its trucks. But a trend of preferring smaller cars can be seen going down the east coast. It’s a surprise to see Subaru on the map with two different model. This might be something to watch for when the updated map comes out for 2015.
